It has been found that plugged dryer vents have been a major cause of fires in Strata buildings. It is vital to have dryer vents maintained regularly but especially important in the many wood structures.

Cleaning exterior dryer exhaust vent hoods, screens and dampers

Exterior dryer vent hoods, screens and dampers will eventually clog up with lint. This built up of lint can obstruct air flow, which reduces the performance of the clothes dryer and could potentially cause a fire. These hoods, screens and dampers can be located on the side or roof of a building or home.

We are now installing Slim Line Secondary lint Traps

A secondary lint trap stops lint from getting caught on the booster fan blades. However, unlike the old, unreachable ones; these are simple to use. It simply mounts to the top of your dryer. From the front of your dryer you just pull the sleeve out, clean the screen and slide it back in. Cleaning and Booster Fan Installation

Dryer booster fans help boost airflow through the dryer duct. Booster fans are commonly used when the dryer ducting length exceeds 25 feet with no bends, 20 feet with one bend or 15 feet with 2 bends. Having the dryer vents, ducts and booster fans reduces the load on the system, help with the dryer’s efficiency.

Roof Access and Fall Protection

Due to there being no roof anchors and WCB’s increased awareness for Fall Protection, the only safe way to access the dryer vents is with a lift. With the lift, once we are up on the roof, we can tie off to the basket, in accordance with WCB’s Fall Protection procedures. This also protects the strata and manager, if an incident were to occur.

Dryer Lint Box Installation

This dryer lint box was installed for a strata building to prevent the dryer lint from being deposited on the nearby vehicles.

Dryer Vent Door Installation

These vents were inaccessible as they exit into the side of a high rise with no anchors. In order to more easily access the dryer vents, doors were installed.
